Clowes has left Marston Road after almost two-and-a-half years there

Rangers have lost all seven of their Northern Premier League Premier Division games so far this term and are firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.

Clowes, who had been in charge of Rangers for 27 months, was subsequently relieved of his duties on Sunday morning, along with assistant manager Dorrian Garner and coach Mick Hathaway.

A statement on the club’s website said: “The board would like to thank Greg, Dorrian & Mick for their hard work & commitment over the last two and half years, and wish them well for the future.”

And Rangers have moved quickly to appoint a replacement, with Andy Mutch taking over in a caretaker capacity.

Mutch has previously managed at Vauxhall Motors, Burscough and most recently Northwich Victoria.

The 49-year-old will be in charge of the club for their league game at home to Marine on Tuesday evening.
