DALE HOPSON has joined Darlington 1883 after having his contract with Huddersfield Town cancelled.

The 21-year-old signed for the Terriers in the summer of 2012 and has since played 32 times for their Under-21s side.

However, he has not featured for their first team and was told that his contract at the John Smith’s Stadium would not be extended when it expired at the end of this month.

That deal has now been terminated by mutual consent, freeing up Hopson to join Darlington 1883, whose previous guise, Darlington, he played for prior to joining Huddersfield.
