AS ANY regular reader of this column will no doubt tell you, there are plenty of things I don’t understand about football.
But one thing I really can’t get my head around is the concept of goal or clean sheet bonuses. Call me a traditionalist, but I’ve always felt that a striker scoring goals is a pretty big part of the job spec.
And a keeper or defender is supposed to, you know, help keep the ball out of the net to keep those clean sheets. Just how do negotiations unfold?
