HAVING whipped myself into a frenzy of anticipation in my last column, the opening day curse struck again: Chester v Curzon Ashton cancelled by the accursed Covid. One of three National League North games to fall victim to infection, postponements are likely to be commonplace for the foreseeable future. After all, it’s not as if players at this level can exist in a Premier League-style bubble, with the majority having to go out into the real world to work.
