The Best Things About Non-League Football

The Best

When people think of the world of , there is a good chance they think of the World Cup, , etc. However, football is much bigger than just these major competitions. Of course, this is the side of football that gets the most attention. Across the world, there are going to be people who closely follow the biggest stars and teams. However, there are plenty of people who get their love for football from somewhere much deeper.

In every country, there are local footballing elements that really attract fans. One of the best examples of this is football in England. After all, there is much more to football in England than just Manchester City and Liverpool. Some of the best footballing moments come from way down the divisions. However, if you are not a fan of non-league football, then there is a good chance that you don’t know all the best things about it. If not, then here are just some of the examples of the qualities it has.

The Fans

Not to say that the Premier League doesn’t have amazing fans, it definitely does. However, you might find the best groups of fans in the lower divisions. After all, there isn’t too much glamour when it comes to local non-league stadiums. Unlike Premier League grounds, you won’t be getting comfortable padded seats and gourmet halftime food. The people who attend non-league games are truly there to support their team. It is all about football for them and everything else comes second. This is why when you attend a game in these divisions, every single moment of the game will be watched by everyone there. This helps to really intensify the atmosphere and elevate the suspense.

The Unpredictable Nature

Football is very much an unpredictable game. Although wild things happen over every league, there does seem to be an extra hint of wildness in the non-league games. Teams tend to take bigger risks when it comes to important games. This can lead to some really wild results. If you are watching non-league football week in and week out, then chances are you are going to see some crazy things. If you are unable to attend the games, then some local radio stations or live commentary streams might be available. You can even listen to these while doing other things. For example, you could visit https://www.casinous.com/real-money-casinos/ to have some additional fun while listening to the game.

The Sense of Community

Although the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United have huge populations of cities supporting them, you can often lack a sense of community. However, this isn’t the case with non-league teams. When you regularly attend the games, you meet people from your area who have the same interests as you. You get to know the players and the managers as members of your community. Even when the team gets to enjoy some success, there is a real sense of accomplishment in the community. There is a sense that everyone knows each other at these games.

  • Gregor’s spot on, refs have become lazy

  • Gibson will remember his famous Port foray

FANS’ FORUM I WAS interested to read about Neil Gibson’s move from Welsh football into the National League as manager of Wealdstone (NLP, February 2). Gibson’s first match in charge of Wealdstone last Saturday, may well be his first involvement in English football since he was on Southport’s books as...

  • ‘Filthy’ criticism is so un-informed

FANS’ FORUM I WASN’T at the Hilltop v Broadfields United match at which the Broadfields players’ behaviour so angered Groundhopper (NLP March 2) so cannot judge whether his response was fair. He is certainly entitled to choose not to visit them at the ground they share with Rayners Lane FC,...

  • Hellenic has lost its core

FANS’ FORUM I NOTE with interest that Southam United have withdrawn from Hellenic League Division One and had their record expunged. It is worth noting that from the division’s original allocation of 22 clubs, one has been promoted as a result of a team leaving the Premier Division, three have...
