Welcome to the latest update of the 2022/23 Fantasy Non-League.
Today’s update covers the first five days of November 2022 which takes in the period Tuesday 1st November 2022 through to Saturday 5th November 2022. As we have now entered the month of November 2022 and you will be reading this update around the middle of the month I thought I would give you our first look at the details concerning the substitutions for this season.
So, we are now approaching the FNL 2022/23 Substitution window. If you are new to the game this season please make sure you are aware of the following details.
The window opens on Thursday 1st December 2022 through to midnight on Saturday 31st December 2022. This is a 31 day period where you can inform me of your substitution choices. Then your changes will be activated on Sunday 1st January 2023.
You can swap new for this season up to five teams and those five teams must have been included on your entry form back at the start of the competition. Your changes do not have to be like for like as far as the leagues are concerned. For example, you can remove a National League side and replace them with a team from The Mixture or any other league in the competition if you so wish.
So, if you are new to FNL this season this is how the subs work. If you remove Notts County from your team and replace them with say Hornchurch. All the points Notts County have scored up to midnight on Saturday 31st December 20212 are frozen in your team calculations (Main Score) and then every point Hornchurch score from the Sunday 1st January 2023 up to the end of the season become part of your main score. Also remember that substitutions only get half the end of season bonus points.
Please Note: You can change your Jokers, but if you do this will count as one of your substitutions. So, to put a bit more meat on the bone here are more details about subbing jokers. If you have Dover as a joker and you decide you want to sub Dover out of the game completely and at the end of December 2022 Dover have 78pts (156pts if they are a joker) a total of 156pts will be frozen into your main score at the deadline on Saturday 31st December 2022. If you bring Dartford in to replace Dover then you have two choices here. 1. Dartford can become your new joker as well or 2. you can select another team that you picked at the start back in August 2022 to be your new joker and that will count as one substitution. If you decide to keep Dover in the game but from Saturday 1st January 2023 you no longer want Dover as a joker then your new joker and this is important will count as one substitution.
So, after reading this you are sat there thinking why I should bother to change anything when I am sat in 823rd in the main FNL table. Well, a good reason could be if you make the right changes you could pick up a FNL Manager of the Month award in the second part of the season!! Also, remember that you can pick up £50 for finishing bottom each month. So, if you are nearer the bottom then the top then make some changes that might give you the chance of finishing bottom. This happen for two players in the second part of the season in the FNL 2020/21 game.
Finally, send the changes you want to make to the FNL Helpdesk either by e-mail, text (I can’t take your changes over the phone they must be written down) or by post to FNL Substitutions, Apartment 14, Chataway House, Leach Road, Chard, Somerset, TA20 1GH.
Please don’t send any of your changes to the paper as they might not reach me in time. Also do not send in any substitutions before Thursday 1st December 2022.
