Tynesiders Chief Adds To His Managerial Team

manager Anth Smith has appointed his former Sunderland team mate David Rush as his new assistant manager.

Smith and Rush were with the Black Cats during the early 1990s, with the former featuring 20 times for the club and the latter appearing on 70 occasions in the famous red and white stripes.

Rush also made over 100 senior appearances for Oxford United during his playing career and had spells with and before retiring.

The 41-year-old has previously managed at club Hebburn Star and will likely be hoping to unearth some local gems for the Heed.

Returning to the club's coaching staff is ex-reserve team boss Paul Bryson.

Bryson left the International Stadium last summer but is now back there in a coaching capacity.
