Odubade Boosts Rovers’ Title Bid

FOREST GREEN boss David Hockaday says loanee Yemi Odubade's Conference-winning experience will be invaluable in the second half of the season.

The forward, who won the Conference with Stevenage in 2009/10, has joined Rovers on a deal running until the end of the season.

Yemi Odubade StevenageHe has featured in over 20 Blue Square Bet Premier games already this term, scoring four times, including goals against promotion chasers Luton Town and Newport County.

Rovers currently lie fourth in the Blue Square Bet Premier, five points behind leaders but with a game in hand, and Hockaday feels Odubade is just what the club need to boost their title bid.

Speaking about the 28-year-old, Hockaday told the club's website: “Yemi has blistering pace, he's powerful and he scores but also creates goals. Plus he's a big game player, if you go through his record since he's been at Gateshead, he has a knack of either scoring or setting up goals against the top teams in the league.

“But most importantly his experience will be invaluable as we come into the business end of the season.

“We are a very young team and Yemi has played in a promotion winning team…and was their top scorer to boot.

“He is also a very good character and has been a very popular player in the dressing room wherever he has been. I believe he will be a good influence on the younger players and help focus their efforts with his experience both on and off the field of play.”
