U’s Youngster Loaned To The Lambs

Cambridge United have allowed defender Jonathon Thorpe to join their Conference Premier rivals Tamworth on loan.

CAMBRIDGE UNITED have allowed defender Jonathon Thorpe to join their Conference Premier rivals on loan.

The 19-year-old is currently 13 months into a two-and-a-half year deal at Cambridge but has just 13 times for the U’s this term.

His manager at the Abbey, Richard Money, feels a spell with the Lambs will prove a good move for the teenager.

Speaking to the club’s website, Money said: “We need JT to have a run of games in his favoured position at right-back and Tamworth have provided us with this opportunity.

“As with Liam Hughes at Corby, we feel that Jonathon will benefit from this one month loan.”
