have been docked four points for fielding an ineligible player in a number of games earlier this season.

Boro did not receive an International Clearance Certificate (ITC) for Medi Abalimba and the former Derby and Southend midfielder went on to feature in six Blue Square Bet South fixtures in August and September.

The club picked up eight points during the games so the Conference would have been within their rights to deduct that amount but exercised the discretion which the appropriate rule allows for cases involving an ITC.

Boro appealed the points deduction as they felt the penalty was too severe but the appeal was thrown by the FA Appeals Panel, who stated that, since the sentence imposed by the Conference was within the parameters of the permitted sanction, the sentence could not be considered excessive.

The club fall five league places from seventh to 12th following the points deduction.
