ENGLAND C suffered late heartache when Aydin Yilmaz struck in the 87th-minute to knock ‘s Three Lions out of the International Challenge Trophy.

‘s men were just minutes away from deservedly forcing extra-time in the semi-final against a Turkish side boasting three full-capped players.

Galatasaray winger Yilmaz was one of the three and when the ball arrived at his feet in the box he made no mistake to fire past Preston Edwards.

It was a cruel blow for England who had more than matched their talented opponents in a cauldron atmosphere at ‘s Princes Park.

England: Edwards, Turley, Ainge (Jackson 88), Oshodi, Thomas, Wedgbury, Forbes, Davis, Gillies (Jolley 89), Meikle. Gray (Spencer 82), Subs not used: Mott, Jarvis.

Attendance: 3,212.
