HEREFORD UNITED captain Luke Graham has signed a new deal with the Conference Premier club.
Graham, who spent a week on work experience with The Non-League Paper earlier this summer, had been in demand by rivals of the Bulls, including Kidderminster Harriers.
However, the 27-year-old rejected the advances of the Aggborough outfit and has signed a contract that will see him take on coaching duties at Edgar Street.
The centre-back will run defensive training and also helps with the team’s warm ups. Despite taking on these additions duties, Bulls boss Martin Foyle says Graham isn’t guaranteed a starting berth.
Speaking to the club’s website, Foyle said: “He’ll still have to fight for his place.
“I’m not one who does favours for my coaching staff!”
Commenting on interest from other clubs for his skipper, Foyle added: “Luke had a better offer from Kidderminster, they were willing to pay a signing on fee and a 52-week contract.
“But full credit to Luke, he had already given me his word he would sign for us, and he kept his promise. That just sums up his attitude and character.
“He came in last season and walked into what could have been a tricky situation, there was a changing room with players on big Football League contracts and players on smaller Conference contracts.
“There were plenty of ingredients that could have made it hard for a captain to keep the dressing room together, but he did his job superbly.”
