High Court Calls Time On Kettering

KETTERING TOWN have been wound up at London’s High Court.

The Poppies, who have been struggling financially for a number of years, were wound up over a £58,000 debt to Rushden & Diamonds (2008) Ltd on Monday.

They had hoped they would be given more time to pay off the outstanding balance but Rushden & Diamonds (2008) Ltd told the Court that similar adjournments had not worked in the past.

High Court official Registrar Jones agreed and, despite Kettering arguing that Rushden & Diamonds (2008) Ltd had not responded to their correspondence since the last Court hearing, issued a “usual compulsory order”.

That order will see the club placed in the hands of an official receiver, who will sell the club’s assets to raise funds to pay off their debts, before bringing a close to business at the Southern League Division One Central outfit.

It is yet to be announced whether the club’s scheduled league fixture away at Dunstable Town on Tuesday night will go ahead.
