Who are the Grand National 2016 favourites?

CHELTENHAM TOWN are the frontrunners in the National League as the season reaches its final furlongs – and sports fans also have the Grand National to look forward to this weekend.

CHELTENHAM TOWN are the frontrunners in the National League as the season reaches its final furlongs – and sports fans also have the Grand National to look forward to this weekend.

Gary Johnson’s Robins secured a vital 3-1 win against Grimsby last Friday and Forest Green Rovers’ goalless with stalemate Wrexham less than 24 hours later meant Cheltenham’s lead extended to four points.

With only four games left it would take quite the swing for Rovers to avoid the play-offs and go up as champions and that’s reflected in the betting with Cheltenham 1/8 at William Hill to win the National League while their Gloucestershire rivals are 9/2.

Grimsby are the only other team priced, at 50/1, but the Mariners’ defeat at Cheltenham means they require an almighty collapse from the Robins and Forest Green.

As the National League season continues with more key games this weekend, punters also have the famous Grand National at Aintree to prepare for.

The latest edition of our sister title Racing Ahead profiled the runners and riders and you can see all the races and odds from Aintree here – http://sports.williamhill.com/bet/en-gb/events/grand-national-day

Many Clouds was the winner of the 2015 National and many pundits believe the horse can become the first since Red Rum to win the race in consecutive years.

His handicap is only set to be 5lb higher than his weight in last year’s race and he’s the current favourite at 7/1 with The Last Samuri just behind at 10/1.

Silviniaco Conti has perhaps the biggest reputation of any horse in this year’s Grand National field and comes in at 12/1 while you can get popular choice Holywell at 16/1

Who are your favourite Grand National runners for 2016? Make sure to check William Hill’s website to find out all the odds and information you need.
