Handsworth Parramore FC to take on Odd Down AFC in Toolstation Cup

Handsworth Parramore FC of Sheffield will take on Odd Down AFC of Bath in the third annual Toolstation Cup, at The Windsor Food Service Stadium in Worksop on Saturday 23rd July with a 2.30pm kick-off.

The Toolstation Cup is part of Toolstation’s support for grass roots and community football, which includes sponsorship of the Western Football League (WFL) since 2005 and the Northern Counties East League (NCEL) since 2013.

Handsworth Parramore FC finished second in the 2015/16 NCEL Premier Division and take their place in the Toolstation Cup due to division winners Tadcaster Albion FC gaining promotion. Odd Down AFC won the 2015/16 WFL Premier Division.

Two charities will benefit from the match, with all proceeds of a half-time raffle to win a Makita cordless 4-piece kit worth over £600 going to the RNLI Flood Rescue Team, as Toolstation’s official charity partners; and the Weston Park Cancer Charity in Sheffield, selected by the NCEL in memory of Dave Wragg, Club Secretary of Handsworth Parramore FC who passed away recently.

With preparation for the match on 23rd July well underway, Mick Godber, manager of Handsworth Parramore FC, said:

“The support that Toolstation gives our league is fantastic and a charity match between teams from the northern and western leagues is a great way to raise awareness of both leagues. Any game we’re involved in is competitive and the Toolstation Cup will be no different – it will be a tough game but we’re very keen to retain the trophy as representatives of the NCEL.”

Ray Johnston, manager of Odd Down AFC said:

“I’m anticipating an extremely tough game against Handsworth Parramore. It involves a hotel stay, and an inevitable night out to follow, but far from being a ‘jolly up’ we’ll be taking this game very seriously. The last thing we want is to go back down south with a bad defeat! Usually with our team, goals are guaranteed, albeit we have no idea which end, so that should bode well for the crowd!”

Neil Carroll, Commercial Development Director at Toolstation, said:

“Congratulations to Odd Down AFC and Handsworth Parramore FC for contesting this years’ Toolstation Cup, we’re looking forward to what will be a great match. Through our work with grass roots football we’re able to both connect with our customers at a local level, and support one of the activities that is close to their hearts and often at the heart of the community itself. May the best team win on the day!”

Toolstation was recently awarded the status of being a Which? ‘Recommended Provider’ for high street shops, having topped the consumer champion’s customer satisfaction survey; as well as being named Which? ‘Recommended Provider’ in the DIY and Decorating category for online shops, a survey it has topped for three years running. To cap its success, Toolstation also won the prestigious Which? ‘Retailer of the Year Award 2016’.

Entrance to the Toolstation Cup at the Windsor Food Service Stadium in Worksop on Saturday 23rd July will be free. Gates open at 1pm and the match kicks-off at 2.30pm.
