The Best Ways to Enjoy the Game While Abroad

Whether you can’t bear the thought of missing you local team’s game while on holiday, or would just prefer to enjoy it in every country, then there’s no shame in finding ways to enjoy football abroad. Visiting local stadiums and even joining in to watch avid local supporters at drinking establishments, can give you a real sense of a local team’s culture and community. It doesn’t matter whether you’re supporting Braintree Town or Barcelona FC, there is joy to be found abroad when it comes to the beautiful game.

Live streaming

If your team has a big match coming up, then the best way to keep on top of the action is to live stream the event. You can even do this on your phone now, which means you won’t have to take your laptop with you in transit. Live streaming allows you to see the game in real time on your smart device. It also means that, if you’re travelling with friends or family, you don’t have to escape to find the nearest bar with a television screen. So be sure to find the best live streaming option available for you so you can enjoy the game with plenty of time!

Local stadiums

While the trophies lining the walls may not belong to your team, there is still joy to be found in visiting local stadiums. You may want to take a walk around the grounds on an open day, or maybe even book tickets to a local game. Joining in with the atmosphere during an important regional match could be just as exciting as watching a game back home.

Famous stadiums

As well as local stadiums that are filled with humble and warm spirit, it’s also a good idea to visit the big-hitters. While many of these stadiums now take the name of their sponsor, that isn’t to say that they’re lacking in character or charisma. In fact, many major-league stadiums are also home to some pretty famous world-records. For example, the Allianz Stadium in Italy was awarded the Stadium Innovation Trophy. This isn’t the only reason to drop by for a visit, either. TourScanner recommends putting this on your footie bucket-list because of its world record: 57 consecutive wins were made in a row in this stadium by Juventus.

Use a VPN

Not everybody needs to watch the game live to keep on top of the scores. If you’d much prefer to keep track of your local team via Twitter or BBC sport, then you will need to be able to access your preferred websites. This is not always possible in every country, however. Instead, you will need a VPN that connects you to a server in your country back home, according to TravelDave.co.uk.

For some, watching football is a religion, not just a pastime. Therefore, it is completely understandable that you would want to keep up with the latest scores even across seas. As well as keeping tabs on your local league game, you may also want to visit international stadiums to enjoy the local spirit of a different country’s support.

The landscape’s flipped completely. In 2026, fan tokens and blockchain bits...
