Champions League tickets: Everything you need to know

None of the nights in Europe can match up to the Champions League match nights in terms of magic, glamour, anxiety, and joy for the winners. After all, it is the most prestigious football competition in Europe.

With some of the biggest teams involved, it is indeed a fitting spectacle for football fans worldwide. Millions of fans want to get the champions league tickets, but sadly only a few thousands become lucky enough actually to get it!

So if you too are in the line to get a ticket to one of the matches, here are some things you need to know!

Getting the Tickets

The 2019 Champions League Final had only 63,400 people inside the stadium with only 4000 tickets available to the general public, and the remaining kept aside to be allotted to finalist teams and local organizing committee, and UEFA broadcasting partners.  The Champions League tickets are available for purchase through the UEFA official portal.

You can also purchase the tickets from other ticketing portals that offer a 100% guarantee on their tickets. However, bear in mind that these portals sell out fast, and it’s always better to book them sooner than later.

If you’re buying it from the federation’s official portal, though, they have a specific window for accepting applications for tickets. The tickets, mind you, are distributed through the ballot system instead of the first-come, first-serve basis.

In case you’re lucky and your application is successful, you are then invited to make the payment. Be wary of third-party and secondary resale ticket outlets. Such tickets are considered invalid and do not permit entry into the stadium.

Tips on How to Buy Tickets

That being said, the ticketing draw is tough, with a low supply of the limited number of seats and the huge demand from across the world. Here are some ideas and tricks that will help you get the Champions League Tickets:-

Timing – As far as buying tickets to the Champions League is concerned, timing is everything. Contrary to popular belief, ticketing prices don’t always drop when the event is nearing. It depends on a lot of factors like the number of tickets on offer, stadium size, etc. If the stadium size is small, it is unlikely that the ticket prices would drop.

Avoid Buying Tickets in a Group – Buying tickets as a large group comes at a price. It’s a lot cheaper to buy it in pairs, while singles are the most economical. If you’re a large group, a smarter option would be to buy tickets in different groupings. It can save you a bunch of money and time.

Home Tickets are Usually More Expensive – Home tickets are usually expensive, and a good idea would be to buy tickets to an away match in another country. Flights and accommodation included, it can still at times turn out to be cheaper than catching a Home match. You can convert it into a mini holiday!

Opposite Side of the Bench – We’ll let you in on a little secret here. Tickets to the opposite side of the home teams’ bench are comparatively cheaper. Tickets are usually expensive on the home teams’ side, but the view might be the same. So, buy the tickets to the opposite side, and you save another few Euros.

Finally, do not buy the tickets without accumulating all the information. Be on the lookout for UEFA announcements regarding the sale of tickets, the number of tickets available, stadiums, etc. All these variables affect your chances of getting tickets to the greatest sporting event in the sports calendar. Research different platforms, check for additional fees, and compare the ticket prices on different platforms before buying.
