National League side Torquay United have completed the signing of young Norwich City defender Michee Efete on loan until 3 January.
The versatile 20-year-old is comfortable playing at right-back or centre-back, and has played every minute this season for the Canaries’ promising Under-23s side.
He also has first-team experience, having spent time playing for Icelandic club Breidablik, and is highly-rated at Norwich, having signed a new deal with at Carrow Road in May.
The managerless Gulls are also bringing in 18-year-old midfielder George Dowling from Bristol City and left-back Chinua Cole, who is 22.
Although Efete will only link up with the Devon side on 4 September, the trio of arrivals are a welcome boost for the National League strugglers, as their squad is currently ravaged by injuries.
Winger Jake Gosling is the latest Torquay man to join the club’s ever-lengthening injury list that is already occupied by the likes of Damon Lathrope and Sam Chaney, who both have groin injuries, and Ryan Clarke, who has a back strain.
Gosling is expected to be on the sidelines for at least two weeks after suffering a foot injury during the defeat to Woking on Bank Holiday Monday, and caretaker boss Robbie Herrera told Devon Live: “On the injury front, I think it’s the worst we’ve had over the past two or three years.
