Gary Owers still searching for the striker that can help save Torquay United

manager Gary Owers still has money available to find the missing striker he has been looking for.
Owers added Plymouth Argyle frontman Alex Fletcher and Colchester United midfielder Tommy O'Sullivan to his squad on Thursday but is still on the hunt for another goalscorer.
“I need a focal point at the top of the pitch,” said Owers. “I need someone to lead the line.”
“I've been loyal, or persevered with most of the players that were here when I arrived and I have to try and mix things up a bit. We have to start winning games very, very quickly and the best way I know how to win games is by scoring goals.
“We need to have players capable of scoring in the team. I am looking at strikers and attacking midfield players.”
Torquay are bottom of the , ten points from safety having sacked after just four games in charge at the start of the season.
Now Owers, who left to take over at the Gulls, says he will bring more players in this month.
He added: “I've had numerous knock-backs. I was in deep discussions with a centre forward in the [] League and he got involved in speaking with other clubs in healthier positions than ourselves, so of course you lose out.
“It does get mentioned [the league position] so the players that do arrive will be players that are quite happy to come and have a fight and a scrap with the rest of us to try and get out of this position.
“There is money available, and I'm not going to use money as an excuse for not being able to sign players. I've got to put together a team in the next 7 days that is going to be competitive.”
