York City manager Martin Gray is looking forward to forgetting about the club’s off field problems when his play-off chasing side face fellow promotion hopefuls Harrogate Town in a crunch game at the top of the National League North.
York will be keen to take revenge on their Yorkshire rivals after Harrogate ran out comfortable 2-0 winners when the two sides last met at the start of the season.
Speaking to the York Press ahead of Saturday’s game, Gray emphasized the importance of having a strong backing from the home crowd
The Minstermen’s boss said,  “It’s all about the crowd this weekend,
“I’m sure Harrogate will be well-supported but, with the crowds we get from people in the city and all over the place, we need to make sure that our fantastic fans concentrate on the football and we give them something back in return.”
York are currently sitting in sixth place in the National League North following their 1-1 draw with Chorley on Easter Monday and hold a five point cushion over the play-off chasers.
Gray’s side will come up against a Harogate team who have surprised fans and pundits alike to sit in 2nd place in the table, just three points behind league leaders Salford City. Town will come into Saturday’s game full of confidence following an emphatic 5-1 win over 8th place Blyth Spartans on Monday.
