Newly promoted National League South side Slough Town have announced the departure of midfielder Matthew Lench.
The 25-year-old joined the Rebels from Hitchin Town last summer and went on to make 51 appearances for the club, finding the net 15 times as Jon Underwood and Neil Baker’s side gained promotion from the Southern League after a dramatic play-off victory at King’s Lynn.
A statement on Slough’s official club website read, “We would like to make you aware that after conversations with ourselves and Matthew Lench we will not be offering him terms for the forthcoming season.
Lenchy has had a good season for the Rebels with the highlight obviously being the hat-trick at Gainsborough, and we thank him for his contribution in helping us get promoted to the National League South.
This may come as a surprise to a lot of supporters, however a lot of thought and reasoning goes into every decision we make.
We wish Lenchy all the very best for the future and know that we will be coming up against him next season.”
