Chesterfield have completed the signing of goalkeeper Shwan Jalal on a two year contract.
The Iraqi-born shot stopper was Macclesfield’s first choice keeper this season and his performances for the title winners earned him a place in the National League Team of the Year.
Jalal, who has five caps for the England C team, joined the Silkmen last summer from fellow National League side Wrexham.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Chesterfield Manager Martin Allen said, “Shwan has just won this division, playing 41 games and I think it’s important to have a solid, reliable and decent keeper.
“On top of that, he knows what it takes to be a champion.”
Chesterfield were relegated from League Two this season after finishing with just 38 points. They began preparations for a first campaign in the National League by bringing in Martin Allen as their new manager from fellow relegated side Barnet.
