Ian Evatt has made his first signing as manager of National League side Barrow by bringing in striker Jacob Blyth.
The 25-year-old spent a number of seasons in Non-League before securing a move to Leicester City at the age of 19 in the summer of 2012.
After impressing for Leicester’s development team, Blyth spent time on loan with a number of Football League clubs including Burton Albion, Notts County, Northampton, Blackpool and Cambridge, before moving permanently to SPL side Motherwell in 2016.
However, the striker suffered a number of injuries during his time at Fir Park and was released by mutual consent at the start of last season.
Speaking to the North West West Evening Mail, Evatt said, ““There are risks attached, but his pedigree is second-to-none.
“He’s someone I know personally, he’s a big, physical specimen, and I have more than enough confidence in him to come and get us those 20 goals that everybody craves.
“If he can do that, he will be a massive asset to the football club and an asset to the team.
