Halesowen Town announce departure of John Hill

Southern Premier Division Central side Halesowen Town have announced that manager John Hill and his assistant Matt Clarke will be departing the club.
Hill leaves the Yeltz sitting just a point above the drop zone, following Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat at home to Barwell.
The manager guided Halesowen to promotion to Step 3 in 2014, but recent performances have prompted the board to look for a fresh approach.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “The club would like to place on record their upmost thanks to them both for the work they have carried out for the club. Their hard work and dedication to the club was paramount in maintaining our status at this level during last season’s uncertainty.

“John Hill joined the club in 2012 from Tipton Town making him one of Non-league’s longest serving managers and has taken charge of over 300 league and cup games.

“He steered the Yeltz to promotion in 2014 from the Northern League Division one South and won the Peter Swailes Trophy in the same season. His record speaks for itself, but a downturn in results has led to his departure.”

In an unusual turn of events the club have announced that Hill will remain in charge for the games at Spennymoor on Saturday and the trip to AFC Rushden and Diamonds on Tuesday whilst a successor is sought.
