FA rejects Northern League plans

Northern League

It has been announced this morning that attempts by the Ebac Northern League to run a new Step 4 division have been rejected by the Football Association.
The application intended on running the FA’s proposed new league for the 2020/21 campaign, which would act as an extension to the current Northern Premier League, however it has now been announced that this motion was turned down.
The Northern League has an infamous record in Non-League with seven of the past eight winners of the FA Vase coming from the division, as well as teams such as Spennymoor Town and Blyth Spartans who have gone on to achieve success far higher up the pyramid.
Ebac Northern League chairman Glenn Youngman said: “This is hugely disappointing news for the league and our clubs.
“We believe the decision will have far-reaching consequences for non-league football in the region.
“We will obviously need to discuss the implications of the decision.”
