Weymouth and Barnoldswick Town win in Buildbase £100k Transfer Deal

Weymouth and Barnoldswick Town have both been awarded £25,000 worth of building materials to improve their facilities after taking part in a national competition run by builders' merchants Buildbase.
The Buildbase £100k Transfer Deal 2019 is a renovation programme for clubs playing in the Buildbase FA Trophy or Buildbase FA Vase competitions. The product bursary includes building, electrical and hire products, which will be provided by local Buildbase branches working with the clubs.
Weymouth, which has been competing in the Buildbase FA Trophy, and Barnoldswick Town, which has been competing in the Buildbase FA Vase, successfully pitched their projects against four other finalists at an event held at Wembley Stadium connected by EE.
Aisling Kenny, HR Director at Buildbase, said: “This programme is about Buildbase investing in local communities by providing materials and expertise. All of the clubs talked passionately about what they would use the fund for and it's clear that it's all about improving the experience for everyone.”
Buildbase and FA judges selected Weymouth FC because it intends to significantly improve facilities at the Bob Lucas Stadium for disabled and special needs supporters, creating a more inclusive experience for everyone in the local community including schools, businesses and sponsors.

Weymouth FC representatives Josh Barton, Josh Clark, Gareth Jones and Dorset Abilities Group member Matthew Knibbs pitched the project.
“We're trying to update Weymouth FC for disabled people. This programme will help us to bring in more fans. We're over the moon to win. It's a massive thing for Weymouth,” said Matthew.
The judges praised joint winners Barnoldswick Town FC for committing to improve access to the club's facilities as well as update and redecorate the clubhouse with new carpets, bar area and furniture.
Barnoldswick Town FC representatives Matt Barnes, Stewart Airdrie and Steve Brown pitched the project.
“This will set us up on a pedestal for the area, benefiting our club and Non-League football. A nice environment will attract more families through the gates and the junior side will reap the benefits, providing a place where they are proud to go. We're only a small town team so to get the building materials from Buildbase is huge,” said Stewart.
Buildbase has awarded £300,000 worth of building materials to improve non-league football club facilities since it became the title sponsor of the FA Trophy and Vase in 2016. Previous winners include Hanwell Town, Cleethorpes Town, Cheadle Town, Needham Market, AFC Darwen and Tadcaster Albion AFC.
