MATLOCK moved quickly to appoint Martin Carruthers as Craig Elliott’s successor – and chairman Jay Beaumont knew he was the right man from their first phone call.
Elliott left to take the vacancy at National League North Buxton at the start of the week, having only joined the Gladiators in September.
Carruthers left Ilkeston Town around the same time, having guided them up from Step 4 last season.
He has also won promotions at Basford United taking them from the East Midlands League to NPL Premier Division, as well as having a spell at Quorn.
