OPPORTUNITY: Neil Danns

NEIL DANNS has left Macclesfield FC to become Ian Dawes’ assistant at Tranmere Rovers.

The former Crystal Palace and Birmingham City favourite led the Silkmen to promotion to a second successive promotion from NPL West this season after taking over as player-manager in December.

Now the 40-year-old has answered a call from another of his former clubs to help lead their League Two campaign next season.

Macclesfield director of football Robbie Savage said of Danns’ departure: “Dannzy is someone we would rather not lose, both as a player and a manager, but ultimately this was his decision.

“This coupled with Tranmere being a Club close to his heart, I can’t deny him the chance to be a part of it once again.”

Danns’ assistant, Mark Duffy, has taken over the Macc hotseat and will lead the club’s charge in NPL Premier next season.
