Dowson on a Dipsy mission

boss Alan Dowson is taking on a marathon challenge to raise money for the Darts' Supporters Association – and he's even accepted his former defender Ben Gerring's challenge to do it dressed as a Teletubby!

Dowson will complete a marathon by walking laps of the South club's pitch on Thursday. The aim is to raise £3,000 for the Kent outfit to use in a number of areas at the club.

centre-back Gerring has taken to Twitter with the promise of a £200 donation if his former Woking gaffer also pulls on Dipsy's costume from kids tv show Teletubbies.

“We're trying to raise money for the whole club – from the kids' section, the women's section and our section so I thought I'd do something,”

Dowson, inset, said. “Ben Gerring, that crackerjack, says he's sent a costume to the club by all accounts. He wants us to be one of the Teletubbies and if I do it in that he'll give £200. He's a great lad, he did well for me at Woking and, for 200 quid, I'll do anything. “I've got a bit of a calf niggle so I've been advised not to run it so I'll walk it. It will be an all day thing! All the money is for all aspects of the club as a whole.”

In total, Dowson will lap the Princes Park pitch more than 100 times.

“It's 140 laps. I did 100 at Woking and 50 for a lad's operation,” Dowson added. “It's the start of the season so if you can do something in the day to raise money for the club then why not?

“It's on Thursday so I'll not be much cop at training that night I don't think!”
