TENACITY: Darty Brown

TRIBUTES have been paid to former Yeading, Maidenhead United and Staines Town midfielder Darty Brown, who has passed away.

Brown had a rare form of cancer called Cardiac Sarcoma with teammates coming together last October for a special fundraising match for the much-loved 47-year-old.

Brown won a treble with Yeading, where he was also part of the famous FA Cup side who took on Newcastle United. He was a key player as Maidenhead won promotion from the Southern Premier in 2007.

Brown’s funeral is on Wednesday, August 7 at All Saints Church, Clydesdale Road, Notting Hill, at 10am. Mourners are requested to wear a touch of navy blue, as requested by Darty.

Maidenhead paid tribute to Brown’s “fight against this cruel illness which he battled with the trademark tenacity he showed during his playing career”.
