WITTON Albion fired manager Jon Macken on Tuesday as the team struggled on the pitch in the wake of a summer player exodus.
Macken departs together with assistant Steve Atkinson after the duo secured successive sixth-place finishes in the NPL West during two years in charge.
However, a disastrous pre-season, which has seen the Northwich side concede 20 goals and lose five of six matches played, prompted the board to act.
“We felt it was time for a change,” chairman Graham Wood told The NLP. “The squad wasn’t coming together, and performances have been poor.”
