IT WAS the story which thrust Thornaby FC into the national media spotlight for all the wrong reasons – but now it has inadvertently given the club a new lease of life.
The Stockton-based club found themselves in the centre of a controversy back in June after the board voted to axe its entire female section following “a difficult year”, leaving more than 100 women and girls players without a club.
