A FUNDRAISER has been set up in support of a player, who needed life-saving surgery after suffering a serious injury to his throat during a game.
Tom Carlse, 30, received an elbow to the throat during VCD Athletic’s FA Vase fifth round tie with Hartpury University on February 1.
He was taken to Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford where a CT scan revealed extensive damage to his throat and airway as well as a fractured larynx. After receiving life-saving surgery at Guy’s Hospital, London, Carlse was put into a coma and placed on a ventilator.
