LIFE IS A PITCH AT HEED

GATESHEAD have been forced to cancel a potentially lucrative pre-season friendly with Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night due to ongoing issues with the playing surface at the International Stadium.
The Heed also had to move yesterday’s visit of Premier League Sunderland to the Hebburn Sports Ground while emergency pitch repair works take place.
The club said: “We must prioritise the work required in plenty of time for our season opener against Southend United on August 9.”
