My 1,000-mile trip didn’t come with such reward
READING your article about Truro City’s epic round trip to Gateshead (NLP, October 26) brought the memories flooding back to the fourth round of the FA Vase on January 20, 2001.
I was living in Cornwall at the time and Falmouth Town were drawn away to Bedlington Terriers.
Along with my then girlfriend, I made the 1,025-mile round trip by car. The weather was absolutely foul with reports of flooding and during the journey it was by no means certain that the match would go ahead.
