ANDY Whing was given plenty to ponder in his first game in charge at Brackley Town as they were struck by a Southend late show at St James’ Park.
Whing’s men were holding on for a precious point until substitute Tom Hopper fired the play-off chasers into the lead nine minutes from time.
Kyle Morrison’s stoppage-time own goal settled the game and there was still time for Gus Scott-Morriss to add a third as Kevin Maher’s Shrimpers moved back into the top seven.
