JONATHON THORPE has become a free agent after having his Cambridge United contract cancelled by mutual consent.
The 20-year-old right-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Tamworth and is reportedly considering an offer of a permanent move to the Lamb.
A statement on the U’s website confirmed his departure and said: “The club would like to thank him for his contribution to Cambridge United as a scholar and young professional and sincerely wish Jonathon every success in whichever path he chooses for his career.
“Both parties have agreed to make no further comment on this matter and Jonathon would like to thank all of the supporters and everyone associated with the Club who has played a part in his development over the last four years.”
