MAIDSTONE United produced, arguably, the biggest FA Cup upset of the day as the only Non-League side to beat higher-league opposition.
Dan Wishart’s deflected strike on 19 minutes ultimately proved the difference as Gary Johnson’s in-form Gulls crashed out at the first round stage for the second season running.
Torquay arrived in Kent as one of the highest scorers in the top five divisions but director of football John Still and manager Hakan Hayrettin set their Maidstone side up perfectly as the Stones nullified the Torquay threat.
