FOR 45 minutes, Hartlepool showed all the hallmarks needed to produce an FA Cup upset – and then Oxford crushed them with a devastating second half display.
Pools had taken a shock lead through Mark Kitching in only the ninth minute before defending excellently to hold a deserved lead at half-time.
But the high-flying League One side showed their quality with Rob Hall’s strike followed by a superb solo goal from the highly-rated Shandon Baptiste before Tariqe Fosu and a Matty Taylor penalty wrapped things up late on.
