HARRY Cardwell and Lewis Reilly goals saw Chorley edge out Gateshead at a rain-lashed Victory Park.
The hosts got off to a flying start with two goals in the first 25 minutes.
Cardwell deservedly headed Chorley in front following a well-worked corner routine and the busy striker was involved again when he chased a ball into the box, only to be brought down by keeper James Montgomery.
Reilly went on to convert emphatically from the spot.
Gateshead were thrown a lifeline just after the break when Harvey Smith sliced a cross from ex-York right-back Kallum Griffith...
