■ WHETHER it was suffocating tactics by Chertsey Town or rank poor play from visitors Chesham United, it mattered not one jot. One goal was enough to put the home side through in an encounter sparce of goalmouth action.
The goal came on 14 minutes from a freekick just outside the Chesham box off the boot of skipper Andy Crossley. It was a low curler around the wall that goalkeeper Sam Bessant could only touch at fingertip distance.
