■ FOR over an hour Hanwell looked to be heading for a deserved replay against their visitors from two levels higher.
However, it was not to be.
Eastbourne’s pressure finally told after a misdirected pass down Hanwell’s left saw Joel Rollinson race clear and cross into the path of Chris Whelpdale, who hit the post. Charlie Walker followed up to score. The goal signalled an exciting passage of play. Town could have equalised when a shot from Dan Carr rebounded to Tomasz Siemienczuk but he miscued.
