ALTRINCHAM came from behind and then survived a tense finale as they edged a five-goal thriller at Haig Avenue.
After a quiet start, the game burst into life on 35 minutes when Port’s Marcus Carver got on the end of some impressive inter play between Dylan Vassallo and Jack Bainbridge to finish from close range.
Southport had the ball in the net again five minutes later but it was disallowed for a foul on Altrincham keeper Matty Gould.
