WITHAM won at the Simarco Stadium despite a second-half revival by the visitors which nearly forced a replay.
The hosts were coasting to victory with a three-goal lead but the match became a traditional cup-tie when Lowestoft scored twice in four minutes.
Andrew Sesay put Witham ahead after 25 minutes. The chance was created by debutant Gabe Campbell whose shot hit the post and Sesay netted from the rebound.
Ben Allen doubled Witham’s lead on the stroke of half-time and scored and scored again in the 46th minute.
