SYKES WINNER BREAKS LIONS’ HEARTS

SOUTH Shields stretched their unbeaten start to the season to nine games, but had to work hard to knock Northern Premier League visitors Guiseley out of the cup.
The visiting Lions led until the 71st minute when Cedwyn Scott came off the bench to equalise, and it took a 90th minute Cain Sykes goal to put the Mariners into the hat for the next round.
Guiseley had been reduced to ten men 12 minutes earlier when Jay Buchan was sent off for a challenge on Will Jenkins with the scores level.
