■ RUNCORN Linnets saw off hosts Pickering Town to advance. The Pikes, overrun for 30 minutes, had a number of escapes, Harvey Washington heading against a post among three attempts.
In that period, Dec Mcloughlin had broken the deadlock, though his shot took a big deflection.
Late in the first half, Runcorn’s debutant keeper Harvey Bardsley made two saves from Souleymane Coulibaly and Joe Wood.
