DIRECTOR of football Craig Hignett has been placed in temporary charge of Hartlepool United after Matthew Bates became the 11th permanent manager to be sacked by the club in ten years.
A crowd of just over 1,700, Pools lowest in 20 years, tur ned out at Victoria Park on Tuesday night as Bates’ side were beaten 2-1 by AFC Fylde.
