IT WAS a tale of missed chances as the Saints exited the Trophy at the first stage.
KofiQuartey and Andre Odetola were among those to have excellent opportunites in the first half, but the Saints failed to make the most of them.
And seven minutes into the second period Whitstable scored the only goal of the game with a decent finish from John Ufuah, who beat his man to hit the net.
Odetola was denied once more by Dan Eason in the visiting goal, and a flick-on from a Chalfont corner went just wide of the far post.
