FA Trophy holders AFC Fylde got the defence of the title off to the perfect start after moving past Curzon Ashton with a straightforward 1-0 win.
The only goal of the game came in the firsthalf, with Fylde talisman Danny Rowe scoring his tenth goal of the season in all competitions.
Having scored the winner at Wembley last term, it seemed only fitting for him to open the scoring in the new campaign – doing so after 25 minutes.
