AN entertaining game at the RPS saw Ashford take the lead in the eighth minute with a superb strike from captain Matt Bunyan.
They had the ball in the net again just two minutes later, Bunyan again, but the flag was up.
Whitstable would have been level on 40 minutes had it not been for a superb point blank save by Paul McCarthy.
Overall, Luke Tuffs’ Ashford created the better chances and could have gone in two or three up.
